Opportunities for undergraduate students
Students in their second and third year of their Biology Program are encouraged to inquire about research opportunities in the lab. The lab offers multiple possibilities to gain hands-on experience in techniques used in plant biochemistry, molecular genetics, cellular biology, biotechnology, and analytical chemistry, while you participate in an innovative research program. These skills will be a valuable addition to your CV, regardless of your career goals.
Algoma University students can participate in undergraduate research in the lab in one of several ways: (1) as a volunteer, (2) for credit (Honours thesis project and Internship courses, BIOL 3456/BIOL 4456), (3) as a work study student (paid position supported by AU).
Both AU students and those from other Canadian universities may apply for the NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) program. Applications are usually submitted at the end of January each year.
